The Triangle Inn Association was established in November 1994 as a not-for-profit, 501(c)(3) organization, to fund the restoration, maintenance, and operation of the National Register listed Triangle Inn building which is owned by the City of Venice and which houses the City of Venice Archives and Area Historical Collection.

The primary fund- raiser for the Association is a yearly series of “Trolley Tours of Historic Venice.” The tours are enjoyed by both residents and visitors alike.

With funds raised through the tours and membership dues, the Association has funded the printing of a three volume set of books titled “Venice Before 1925” which is based on the weekly newspaper columns written by George “Nemo” Higel from 1889-1923. These newspaper columns are the only known written record of life in the Venice area before the building of the city in the late 1920s.

Also, funded by the Association is a full-color walking tour brochure of the Venezia Park National Register Historic District. The books are available at the Archives and the brochure is available at the Archives, Venice City Hall, Venice MainStreet, Venice Chamber of Commerce, and area Bed and Breakfast lodgings.

In addition to publications, the Association has funded hurricane storm panels to protect the Triangle Inn building and purchased scanners, photo quality printers, and display materials for the Archives. Funding was also provided for an Archives’ data conversion project and building maintenance items not in the city budget.

The Association works closely with City’s Director of Historical Resources to maintain the historic Triangle Inn building and preserve the archival materials in the Collection.
